چکیده

the effects of fish weight on salinity tolerance were studied in caspian salmon (salmo trutta caspius) parr. 180 fish (all with 2 years old but with three weights; 5, 15, 25g) were selected and they reared in freshwater (fw) and brackish water (bw; 13ppt salinity) for 10 days. the mrna expression of two α-subunit isoforms of na+, k+-atpase (α1a and α1b) and nkcc co-transporters were studied in their gill tissue. in all three weight groups, the mrna levels for the α1a isoforms decreased following bw exposure, whereas α1b levels significantly increased in 15g and 25g groups. in addition, nkcc gene expression were significantly higher in the groups of bw than fw in 15g and 25g weights (p

Dynamics of Na(+),K(+),2Cl(-) cotransporter and Na(+),K(+)-ATPase expression in the branchial epithelium of brown trout (Salmo trutta) and Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).

The dynamics of branchial Na(+),K(+),2Cl(-) cotransporter (NKCC) and Na(+),K(+)-ATPase (NKA) expression were investigated in brown trout and Atlantic salmon during salinity shifts and the parr-smolt transformation, respectively. In the brown trout, Western blotting revealed that NKCC and NKA abundance increased gradually and in parallel (30- and ten-fold, respectively) after transfer to seawate...

Altered expression of Na/K-ATPase and other osmoregulatory genes in the gills of euryhaline

24 Recent advances in molecular techniques have allowed gene expression in euryhaline 25 animals to be quantified during salinity transfers. As these investigations transition from 26 studying single genes to utilizing genomics-based methodologies, it is an appropriate time to 27 summarize single gene studies. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed on 59 published 28 studies that used quantit...

immunolocalization of na+,k+- atpase and ionocytes in gills of catfish, silurus glanis

introduction: the regulation of the body fluid content (osmoregulation) of an aquatic animal, is performed by several organs. in fish, osmoregulatory mechanisms are based on the function of specialized cells (ionocytes) located in various tissues and organs including gills. na+, k+-atpase is one of the main osmoregulatory enzymes enabling the use of atp as a source of energy for ion transport t...

Regulation of the ASC system and Na+/K + pump activities in brown trout (Salmo trutta) hepatocytes

The present study investigates the regulation of Na+/K+ pump activity and alanine uptake in trout hepatocytes. Pump activity increased when cells were incubated in an amino-acid-free medium, while it was reduced in cells from fasted animals. Short-term exposure (3 h) to glucagon modified the activity of the pump in a complex seasonally dependent pattern: in experiments carried out in autumn and...

Isoform expression of Na+-K+-ATPase α-subunit in gills of the teleost Oreochromis mossambicus.

Three isoform-specific antibodies, 6F against the α1-isoform of the avian sodium pump, HERED against the rat α2-isoform, and Ax2 against the rat α3-isoform, were used to detect the expression of Na+-K+-ATPase α-subunits in gills of a teleost, the tilapia ( Oreochromis mossambicus). Tilapia gill tissue showed positive reactions to antibodies specific for α1- and α3-isoforms. The results of immun...

Glutamate transporter coupling to Na,K-ATPase.

Deactivation of glutamatergic signaling in the brain is mediated by glutamate uptake into glia and neurons by glutamate transporters. Glutamate transporters are sodium-dependent proteins that putatively rely indirectly on Na,K-ATPases to generate ion gradients that drive transmitter uptake. Based on anatomical colocalization, mutual sodium dependency, and the inhibitory effects of the Na,K-ATPa...
